CANCER SUPPORT
You do not have to choose between your oncology care and support for the rest of you.
A cancer diagnosis changes everything. It changes how you understand your body, your time, and what matters. It brings with it a treatment journey that is demanding in ways that are hard to describe to those who have not been through it. And it often leaves people feeling like the medical system is focused entirely on the cancer while the person carrying it is somehow secondary.
Cancer Support
This page is about the person, not just the cancer.
Herbal medicine and homeopathy do not treat cancer. I want to be completely clear about that from the beginning. What I offer is support for people living with a cancer diagnosis, moving through treatment, and rebuilding their health and vitality in its aftermath. This is integrative oncology support, working alongside your oncology team, not in place of it.
This distinction matters, and I hold it carefully. The goal is not to interfere with or replace your conventional cancer treatment. The goal is to support your body through what treatment asks of it, to reduce side effects where possible, to maintain immune function, to support your nervous system and emotional resilience, and to help you feel as well as possible throughout a very demanding process.
What the research says about integrative oncology support
Integrative oncology is a growing and increasingly evidence-informed field. Many cancer centres now have integrative oncology programs that include herbal medicine, acupuncture, nutritional support, and mind-body practices alongside conventional treatment. The evidence base for several specific herbal interventions in cancer care is genuinely strong.
What is clear is that people who receive integrative support alongside conventional cancer treatment often tolerate treatment better, experience fewer and less severe side effects, maintain better immune function, and report better quality of life.
It is worth naming what that evidence does and does not show. Herbal medicine in oncology contexts is generally studied for its ability to reduce treatment side effects, support immune function, improve quality of life, reduce fatigue, and in some cases demonstrate complementary effects that may support the efficacy of conventional treatment. It is not studied as a standalone cure for cancer, and that is not what I offer.
What is clear is that people who receive integrative support alongside conventional cancer treatment often tolerate treatment better, experience fewer and less severe side effects, maintain better immune function, and report better quality of life. These are meaningful outcomes that matter to the person going through treatment.
What herbal medicine and homeopathy offer
The herbal approach to cancer support is built around several key goals: immune support, fatigue reduction, side effect management, nervous system and emotional support, and long-term vitality and resilience.
Medicinal mushrooms have some of the strongest evidence in herbal medicine for cancer support and immune modulation. They are used widely in integrative oncology settings in Japan, China, and Korea, and the research base is substantial.
Turkey tail mushroom
Contains polysaccharopeptides PSK and PSP studied extensively in cancer contexts. PSK is an approved adjuvant cancer therapy in Japan. Evidence for supporting immune function and improving outcomes alongside conventional treatment.
Reishi mushroom
Deeply immune-modulating, anti-inflammatory, and supportive of the nervous system. Evidence for reducing fatigue during chemotherapy, supporting natural killer cell activity, and improving quality of life in cancer patients.
Chaga mushroom
Significant antioxidant properties and immune-modulating effects. Used broadly in cancer support protocols.

Common support approaches
People navigating cancer and cancer treatment have often researched integrative options extensively. This is the landscape of what is broadly known to support people through this experience:
Nutrition during treatment:
Maintaining adequate nutrition during cancer treatment is important and can be challenging due to nausea, appetite changes, and taste alterations. An anti-inflammatory, whole foods approach is broadly recommended, with emphasis on adequate protein for tissue repair and immune function. Specific nutritional needs vary depending on cancer type and treatment.
Immune support:
Maintaining immune function during chemotherapy, which is inherently immunosuppressive, is a priority. Medicinal mushrooms, astragalus, and nutritional support including zinc, vitamin D, and vitamin C are widely used for this purpose.
Nausea management:
Ginger has strong evidence for reducing chemotherapy-induced nausea and is one of the most widely used herbal interventions in oncology settings. Acupressure at the P6 point also has evidence for nausea reduction.
Neuropathy support:
Peripheral neuropathy from certain chemotherapy agents is common and can be long-lasting. Alpha-lipoic acid, B vitamins, and certain herbs that support nerve health are used to reduce and manage neuropathic symptoms.

What to expect working together
Cancer support requires a particularly careful and individualized approach. Before recommending any herbal support, I review your cancer type, your current treatment protocol, your medications, and any contraindications carefully. Safety and coordination with your oncology care is the foundation of everything.
The initial consultation gives me a thorough picture of where you are in your cancer journey, what treatment you are receiving or have received, what side effects you are managing, and what your goals for our work together are. Whether you are newly diagnosed, in active treatment, recovering from surgery, in remission, or rebuilding after treatment ends, the approach is tailored to where you are right now.
I work closely with what your oncology team has in place and encourage open communication between all of your practitioners. If you would like me to share information with your oncologist or other providers, I am happy to do so.
Telehealth is available for all appointments, and I ship custom formulations across Canada. I understand that treatment schedules and energy levels make getting to appointments difficult, and I build that flexibility into how we work together.

You deserve support for the whole of this experience, not just the cancer.
A cancer diagnosis is one of the most demanding things a person can go through. The treatment is demanding. The uncertainty is demanding. The impact on every aspect of life is demanding. And you deserve care that sees all of that, not just the tumour.
Herbal medicine and homeopathy cannot cure cancer. But they can make the journey through it more bearable, support your body’s resilience through what treatment asks of it, and help you rebuild your vitality and health on the other side.
If you are navigating cancer and looking for integrative support…I would be glad to hear from you.
